Firefighters Battle 5-Acre Blaze off Sheldon Road

A brush fire has been reported in the Citrus Park area.

Drivers and residents in the Fawn Ridge area of Citrus Park take note.

A brush fire is burning on about five acres of land today, April 16, along Fawn Ridge Road off Sheldon Road, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Fire rescue units are on the scene of the brush fire, which is near the Hillsborough County Water treatment plant, 9811 Sheldon Road. Crews are being assisted by the Florida Forest Service to control the blaze. There are no residences or structures in danger, according to officials.

The fire comes one week after Wildfire Awareness Week in the state of Florida. This year alone the state has already battled over 1,000 wildfires on 20,430 acres.
