Golf Car Thefts Plague County, Alonso High School

More than $20,000 in golf carts have been stolen in unincorporated Hillsborough County since December.

More than 20 golf courts have been stolen from unincorporated areas of Hillsborough County, including Alonso High School.

A golf cart was stolen from the school, located at 8302 Montague St., in December, said Deputy Lisa E. Haber.

The theft happened between Dec. 19 and 20, said Haber, law enforcement coordinator for Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay.

The majority of the 23 golf cart thefts happened in southeastern unincorporated Hillsborough County. Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the identity and arrest of the unknown suspect(s) responsible for the thefts.

To date, these thefts have accounted for losses of $25,000 - $35,000 worth of golf carts, according to Crime Stoppers. No suspect information is available.

suspect(s) responsible for these thefts and who wants to be eligible for a
cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS(8477), report
