Man Found Dead Inside Hampton Lakes Home

Nearby homes were evacuated as deputies responded.

A man has been found dead from what deputies say is a self-inflicted gunshot wound this evening on Stowbridge Avenue.

Earlier this evening, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the man's father called to say his son had a gun and was in Tampa threatening to kill himself.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office SWAT deputies and the Crisis Negotiation Team responded to 14117 Stowbridge Ave. in the Hampton Lakes subdivision, and deputies reached the man on his cell phone, according to the Sheriff's Office

"The man indicated he was inside the home, 'he was OK and would be coming
out,'" deputies said.

However, he did not come out and did not respond to other attempts to contact him, accoring to the Sheriff's Office.

"At approximately 8 pm, the wife showed up to her residence and provided a key
to her home to allow deputies to enter the residence. A robot was sent inside
and the man was found deceased from an apparent self inflicted gunshot," the Sheriff's Office reported.

A suicidal man has barricaded himself inside a home on Stowbridge Avenue, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. 

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office SWAT deputies and the Crisis Negotiation Team responded to 14117 Stowbridge Ave. in the Hampton Lakes subdivision, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The man is home alone threatening suicide with a gun, the Sheriff's Office says. Nearby homes have been evacuated as a precaution. 

Earlier, a Westchase Patch Facebook user, Jill Justice Hines, posted on the page, "What is going on around Westchase??? A ton of police cars are racing down Linebaugh to Countryway and Racetrack."
