When a man saw three pit bulls confront a jogger Saturday morning, he chased them with a gun and shot two of them, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. One dog is now dead.
A woman was jogging in the area of Ridgebrook Circle and Royal Cove Circle around 7:22 a.m. She was confronted by three pit bulls and stopped in the roadway, the sheriff’s office said.
That’s when Lamb, 54, of 8457 Ridgebrook Circle, came out of his house armed with a handgun and chased the dogs, the sheriff’s office said. The jogger heard shots being fired and saw the dogs run from between two houses.
Two of the three pit bulls were shot, and one was put down by a veterinarian. The dogs are owned by Lucia Adkins, 47, of 8445 Ridgebrook Circle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies said they also found that Timothy and Marie Smith’s house, nearby at 8434 Ridgebrook Circle, had a sliding glass door shot out, and a bullet ended up in the kitchen wall. The Smith’s two children were also in the home when the shooting occurred. No one was injured.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident and deputies will be consulting with the State Attorney’s office, the sheriff’s office said.
