Sheriff Says Thank You To Those Doing Double Duty

Deputy Clint Sublette and his family, who live in the Citrus Park area, were among those honored.

There are currently about 70 Hillsborough County Sheriff Department employees who are serving in the armed forces. That means double duty service for many of the county's law enforcement.

Yesterday, Sheriff David Gee took time to honor those men and women during a luncheon.

"This is his (Sheriff Gee) way to show appreciation for serving their county and country," said Cristal Bermudez Nunez, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

Deputy Clint Sublette and his family, who live in the Citrus Park area, were among those honored.

Sublette, 27, became a deputy in 2006. Since then, the military reservist has been deployed twice to the Washington D.C. area to support air defense.

"I always had the mindset of service," said Sublette, who was joined at the luncheon by his wife Amanda and three children ages 4 years old, 2 years old and 6-months. "What keeps me serving is for those who don't get to come home."

Sergeant Jeffrey Braddock, another Westchase area resident, was also honored at the luncheon. Braddock is currently deployed.

The keynote speaker for the luncheon was Maj. General Joseph L. Votel, Chief of Staff for the U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air
Force Base. He is charged with heading the Reserve components of most branches of the military.

When asked how Sublette manages to stay dedicated to his responsibilities with local law enforcement and military service, the answer was simple.

"Right here," he said. "My family."
