The woman who was rear-ended in a Tuesday
morning accident that snarled traffic along Sheldon Road for several hours has
died from her injuries.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cristal Bermudez Nunez passed along the news Thursday morning, Aug. 29.
The accident took place at 8 a.m. Tuesday on Sheldon Road at Wood Lake Boulevard. Caridad Chamizo, 48, was heading south on Sheldon when a Toyota driven by Luis Arroyo, 22, struck her from behind.
Arroyo voluntarily submitted to a blood draw at the scene, but deputies say they do not believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
