Baby Boomers Basketball League Taking Shape

Hillsborough County is offering a basketball league for people 50 and older.

Are you 50 years old and older and still enjoy shooting hoops?

If so, Hillsborough County’s Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department wants you! Adults 50 years old of age or above are needed to compete in a 5-on-5 Full Court Adult Basketball League. People from across the county are welcomed, however the league will play on Tuesday mornings at All Peoples Life Center, 6105 E. Sligh Ave. in Tampa.

It's the first time the county has done an over 50 basketball league, said Joe Soletti, a recreation specialist for the county parks and recreation department.

"We're looking at programming in the morning time," Soletti said. "I tried to think of what population could be in here in the morning time."

Soletti said the league will play a casual basketball game. Soletti and staff will referee and take score.
