Commissioner Helps Residents Prepare For Hurricane Season

If you have questions about hurricane season bring them to the Town 'N Country library on Friday.

The public is invited to a special event aimed at helping residents in the northwest part of the county prepare for hurricane season.

The event titled "Get Ready! Hurricane Briefing," will take place on Friday, June 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Town 'N Country Regional Library, 7606 Paula Drive.

Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandra Murman will be on hand to answer the public's questions. Preston Cook, Emergency Management Director for Hillsborough County, will also be on hand to brief citizens on what they can do to stay safe during this hurricane season.

"I am committed to getting you the latest information on how to prepare for storms, so we are hosting this short meeting along with the leader of our Emergency Management team, to do just that," Commissioner Murman said in a statement.

Residents can pick up a copy of the official 2013 Hillsborough County Disaster Planning Guide with evacuation zone information, sample family disaster plans, disaster supply lists, information on how to protect your home and business, along with what to do for your pets, according to a press release issued by the county.

For more information about hurricane preparedness or about the event call 813-272-5470.
