Nominate Middle and High Schoolers For County Honor

Nominations are being accepted for the Youth Excellence and Achievement Awards.

Do you know an outstanding middle or high schooler? Hillsborough County wants to know about them too.

The county is requesting nominations for its Youth Excellence and Achievement Awards (YEA! Awards). Nominations are being accepted now through Feb. 28.

YEA! Award nominations can be submitted for both middle and high school students in each of the following categories:

Leadership - demonstrating positive impact on others in an ongoing endeavor, such as sports, academics, the arts, etc.

Success Despite Difficult Odds - overcoming tremendous personal difficulty to attain success and a positive impact on others.

Volunteer or Community Service - allocating their discretionary time to helping others or completing a project that has added to the betterment of our community.

The YEA award winners will be honored at a Hillsborough County Board meeting in spring and will receive a medallion for their achievements, said Aleshia Williams, county spokesperson. 

To nominate a young person for the YEA! Awards go online, or an application can be printed and submitted to the Hillsborough County Communications Department, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., 16th Floor, Tampa, FL 33602, or by fax to 813-276-8495. Nominations will be reviewed by the Commission on the Status of Women.
