Puppet Show, Public Forum, Ponds: 5 Things To Know This Week in Westchase May 7-11

A look at events you should know about in the week ahead.

 

  1. Puppet Show: See the Little Red Riding Hood Puppet Show at the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library on Monday, May 7 at 3:30pm and 6pm. Upper Tampa Bay Regional Library, 11211 Countryway Blvd. in Tampa. For more information call: 813-273-3652.
  2. Public Forum: The Tampa Bay Association of Black Journalists is presenting a panel of local media and law experts to discuss media coverage of the Trayvon Martin case on Monday, May 7 at 7pm. The panel discussion will include how social media played a role in media coverage, the Stand Your Ground law and legal aspects of the investigation. Panelist include Eric Deggans, media critic at the Tampa Bay Times; Dr. Kenneth Minton, adjunct professor at St. Leo University and Hillsborough Community College, a former sheriff's deputy and Stand Your Ground law proponent. 
  3. Master Gardener Water Gardens and Ponds: Learn how to make your garden a showplace during this workshop on Wednesday, May 9 at 7pm. The session will include tips on adding creative touches and design elements such as inviting pathways, simple structures and trellises, a garden room, eclectic containers and theme garden areas.   4. WCA Monthly Meeting: The Westchase Community Association will hold its monthly meeting and residents forum on Thursday, May 10 at 7pm at the West Park Village Swim and Tennis Center, 10049 Parley Drive in Tampa.
  5. Movie in the Park: Watch the movie "Dolphin Tale" this Friday, May 11, 7pm-9pm in Baybridge Park presented by the Westchase Community Association.
