Update 7:45 p.m. Sept. 9:
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has canceled plans to attend a Sept. 12 rally in the Tampa Bay area.
According to Art Wood, chairman of the Hillsborough County Republican Party, "the Mitt Romney campaign has canceled their Wednesday evening rally in Oldsmar."
Wood said in an email that the rally would be rescheduled but that no firm date has yet been offered.
The chairman had sent an earlier email alerting supporters to "block off the time" to show their support for the former Massachusetts governor's presidential bid.
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney plans to make a stop in the Tampa Bay area Wednesday night to rally supporters to his side.
The former Massachusetts governor is expected to host a public event somewhere in the Oldsmar area Sept. 12 and officials from the Hillsborough County Republican Club are working to get the word out.
“I've gotten the word that Gov. Romney will be staging a public rally at 8 p.m. in Oldsmar on this Wednesday evening,” wrote Art Wood, chairman of the Hillsborough County Republican Club, in an email.
While more details aren’t available at this time, including the location for the visit, Wood is working to get supporters to pencil in the time on their calendars.
“Please block off the time so that we can show the world how much support there is for Gov. Romney in Hillsborough County,” he wrote.
