USF Tuition Increases 11 Percent

The Florida Board of Governors approved the hike Thursday.

The got what it was asking for Thursday (June 21): an 11 percent hike in tuition for 2012-13.

The Florida Board of Governors considered tuition increase requests from 11 universities. According to a story from the Tampa Bay Times, board members negotiated for more than two hours to agree on the final increases, but their decisions seemed arbitrary at times, leading one member to say that there was no method to the madness.

USF’s tuition increase came with some debate. The board waivered between a 9 and 11 percent hike, the story states.
