Westchasers Set to Get Outdoor Exercise Equipment

Westchasers will soon be able to add a new workout to their fitness routine.

The Westchase Community Association Board of Directors recently moved to purchase several pieces of outdoor exercise equipment. The eight new pieces will come from the TriActive Outdoor Fitness Equipment company, which specializes in exercise machines that can brave the outdoor elements.

The equipment will be installed at Baybridge Park, a location that had the most available ground, said Mary Griffin, Westchase Community Association Board of Director.

Baybridge Park is located 10029 Bridgeton Dr. off Linebaugh Avenue.

The idea to install outdoor workout equipment came from last year's  Best Ideas for Westchase contest, held by the Magazine.

"It was one of the top suggestions," Griffin said. "They wanted some type of exercise equipment."

The equipment total cost is about $25,000, Griffin said.

The Westchase Community Development District chipped in to make the project possible. In addition, the WCA was granted a $2,500 neighborhood mini grant by Hillsborough County to further fund the project.

Griffin researched outdoor fitness equipment companies, and decided TriActive had the best equipment for the price. The California-based company has a Florida distributor.

City officials in South Florida have installed four outdoor gyms in Miami-area parks all with TriActive equipment.

In Westchase, the fitness equipment should go in at Baybridge Park no later than mid-September. Instructional signs will be featured on each piece of equipment.

• Back Extension
• Double Leg Press
• Ellipitcal Cross Trainer
• Pull Up and Dip Station
• Rowing Machine
• Chest Press
• Sit Up Board
