Here are 6 of my favorite DIY home decor ideas that are trending right now and can even be found in homes that the professionals decorate.

  • Apothecary jars or large vases filled with artificial fruit or decorative filler like potpourri.

Just make sure you don't fill it to the top.  You don't want it to look like it is cramped and about to overflow.

  • Make your own custom wall art made by framing designer fabric or making a decorative canvas with scrapbook paper.

I chose coordinating fabric and framed them in mahogany picture frames.

Scrapbook paper is an inexpensive way to make wall art.  I used decorative scrapbook paper, modge podge, and a plain canvas.

  • Spray paint an old brass lamp in a bold, popping color.  Just click the highlighted link to read about my own brass lamp transformation
  • Paint or add wall paper to the back of a plain book case to make it stand out in your room.  Once again, this is a very easy DIY project to tackle.  You can even use the cheap bookcases from places like Walmart.
  • Paint a piece of vintage t in bold, bright colors.  Add new, current hardware.  This can definitely create that wow factor if used as a focal point in any room.
  • Make custom curtains using custom fabric and premade curtains.  This is such an inexpensive project that will add that custom look to any room.

I love my DIY  projects and love telling people that  I made them.

Regardless to what your decorating style may be, there are many DIY home decor projects and ideas that are cheap and fun to try.
