Book Fair; SAT Prep: 5 Things To Know About the School Week, Feb. 13-17

What you need to know about the upcoming school week.

  1. Jump Rope For Heart is taking place this week at and during your child's PE class. Deer Park parents are welcome to come and jump with their child. All donations are due Friday, February 17.
  2. Did you miss Art for Heart show? There's still time to purchase students artwork. Proceeds go to benefit the American Heart Association. Go here to learn how to buy. Deadline to purchase is Monday, Feb. 13: 
  3. Sickles High School is offering a free SAT Prep Course on Saturdays, February 11 to March 3 (9am-1pm.)  The class will be held in the 300 Building. CLICK HERE for an application.
  4. Got empty ink cartridges? From now until February 29, is collecting cartridges through its annual Cartridges for Kids Recycling Contest. Empty inkjet cartridges, empty laser cartridges, used cell phones, video games (including case), video game consoles (with accessories), laptops (including power cords), PDAs (with accessories), and digital cameras are accepted. The class that turns in the most items will win $50. Items must be marked with the teacher's name. Collection bins will be located inside the media center and in the front office.
  5. Hammond Elementary is holding its book fair this week. And this year you can shop online too. Go here to shop. All books are shipped free of charge to the school.
