Numerous summer camp options are still available for Westchase parents unsure of where to send their children.

Selecting a summer camp can be a daunting task for any parents who must find a place where their children can go when school is out.

Age ranges, hours, fun activities and pricing are just a few of the factors parents must weigh as they determine where to send their children when they are at work.

And top that with a mad dash for many camps and some parents may find themselves left without a solution. Below are a few camps in the Westchase area that are still accepting children for the summer:

The YMCA's Summer Camp has a wide array of activities and programs for summer campers for 10 weeks.  Their  day camp program is a traditional summer program with arts and crafts, sports, games, swimming and more.

Age ranges between 5-12 and the cost of their traditional camp varies between $130-$185 per week depending on the type of membership a family has there.  The camp is open from 7 am - 6:30 pm.

"Our swim lessons are full and week 8 of our sports camp is full because that's the week the kids get to go to a Ray's game, but all our other camp programs still have availability," said Rebecca Pusateri who works for the YMCA.

The YMCA also offers a sports camp that is for ages from 8-13.  At this camp a different sport is focused on each week.  Costs and hours of operation for this camp are the same as for the traditional camp.

The school's "Explorer's Group" is for children ranging in age from 6-12.  The cost is $235 per week and that cost includes the admission to all the places that they will go on field trips.  The camp hours are 6:30 am - 6:30 pm.

"We'll be going to Ci Ci's pizza where students will make their own pizza, a Ray's game,  Lowry Park Zoo, just to name a few of the places, said director, Debbie Smolenski.

The center has a camp that accepts children from ages 5-12 and the cost is $80-$120 per week depending on the number of weeks a child is signed up for, it runs from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

For parents seeking a more academic setting for their child's summer camp experience, the Goddard School accepts students who range from 4-8 years of age.   The cost is $215 per week and the hours are from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

"We'll have a lot of fun activities like live theater and puppet shows, but our campers will also learn language arts, etiquette as well as music and movement," said Goddard school's director of education, Jackie Tumelty-Kaller.

Other camps in the area provide different hours and have a primary focus on specific activities including: basketball, tennis, acting and horseback riding. For more information on these camps check out Westchase Patch's summer camp guide:
