Photo of the Week: Deer Park 4-H Tropicana Speech Contest

The school held their annual competition Thursday.

More than 35 students took to the stage at Deer Park Elementary School on Thursday armed with speeches on a wide variet of topics from Bigfoot to Sibling Rivalry.

Thursday was Deer Park Elementary's 4-H Tropicana Speech Contest. The program, in partnership Tropicana Inc., and the Hillsborough County Public Schools happens each year and is offered to elementary fourth and fifth graders.

Students wrote and delivered a public speech between 2-3 minutes in length on any topic.

Westchase Patch editor Nicole Hutcheson was among the judges at the Deer Park Elementary competition on Thursday.

Students compete within their classes, and then at the school level. Winners of those contests then compete at the area level. The top two winners at the area contest move forward to the district competition in February.
