The Westchase Community Association (WCA) voted on the new summer camp policy at the board meeting on April 14.

“We are not trying to make any money," said Joaquin Arrillaga, WCA president.
"We are just trying not to lose any money."

The new policy aims to offset the expenses for keeping staff on duty at the camp when parents are late, Arrillaga said.

“Otherwise, the association would have to pick up the tab,” he said.

Late fees must be paid in full at the moment of pick up or before the next day’s session. The money collected from the late fees will go into the WCA’s budget to offsets expenses.

Children will not be allowed to leave the camp with anyone other than those listed on the registration form, without a written permission from the parents or guardians.

The kid’s participation in the summer program will be suspended after three late pickups, according to summer camp policies and procedures.

This year's camp will take place at the Swim and Tennis Center, located at 10405 Countryway Blvd. The program will run from June 13 to August 5. There will be no summer camp during the week of July 4.

Activities will include arts and crafts, sports and fitness, games and filed trips, such as a visit to Celebration in Orlando.

Just so you know camp hours are:

  • 8am-1pm for the half day morning session.
  • 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the half day afternoon session.
  • 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the full day session.
