On Friday morning Walker Middle School students and staff will come together in the name of peace. International Day of Peace is Friday, Sept. 21. As a way to honor it the school will be dedicating a peace pole purchased by the school's PTSA.
The pole will be placed on school grounds and proclaims "May Peace Prevail On Earth" in eight different languages. The dedication ceremony will include music, art and literature.
Walker students will explore the concept of peace through interdisciplinary lessons and activities. Students, faculty, and families will reflect on how peace begins with individuals and spreads, having a social, institutional, national and global impact.
The event begins at 10:00 a.m. at Walker Middle, located at 8282 N. Mobley Road in Odessa.
