Alonso Ravens Send Four Runners To State Competition

The heavy hitters for The Ravens came through at Regionals earlier this week.

Alonso had 12 runners at the Regional track competition this year -- four of them will be going to State finals in early May.

Sophomore sensation, Quatasia Fantroy qualified in three of her four events. She missed the triple jump, coming in 7th place but got 2nd place in long jump with a leap of 17 feet 2 inches.

She also came in 3rd in the 200 meter with a time of 25.87 seconds. She made it to the state competition in the 400 meter as well with a 1:00.63 minute time; still not quite under that minute mark.

Sophomore Alisa Davis is going to states in the 400 meter. She finished just behind teammate Quatasia Fantroy in 1:00.73 minutes in 4th place.

Junior Brandon Holloway can be said to be the fastest person on the track. Some experts say that the 200 meter is the race that determines that. Some say that the 100 meter is the race with the fastest person. Well, Holloway won them both so there's no argument. Holloway's 100 meter time was 10.63. His 200 meter time of 21.36 seconds.

Senior Franklyn Mosely continues to be the 400 meter expert. His time of 48.76 won the finals. Mosely missed the 100 meter cutoff but helped the boys 4x400 meter relay team qualify with the 4th spot.

The state finals are Saturday, May 7 in Winter Park, Fla.
