Hit the Greens with Your Child at Westchase Golf Club

Family style quality time is up for grabs at the Westchase Golf Club's Parent-Child Golf Events.

This past Saturday marked a fun parent child golf event at the .

The outings are $25.00 per parent-child team and $10.00 for each additional child. The purchase price includes golf, range balls, prizes and a meal afterward.

I caught up with the organizer of the event Cameron Ross, in the golf club's pro shop this weekend.

Ross said the golf course decided to hold parent/child golf as an effort to get more kids involved in the game. The club opened a new kids’ course a few years ago.

Ross believes that golf can be a great character builder for children as honor and honesty are integral parts of the game.

Father and son team Arthur and Matthew Lorenzo came out for the event on Saturday.

Matthew, age 7, has been golfing since he was a toddler.

His favorite thing about the sport: “being able to turn the ball from left to right and right to left," he said.

“I can’t even do that!” his father, Arthur Lorenzo joked.

The parent and child pair enjoyed their quality time together on the greens.

The 9-hole events will be held every Saturday until August 20. Call Pro Shop to register: 813-854-2331. To learn more about the Westchase Golf Club’s Parent-Child Golf Events visit their website.
