The Ravens struck first as they recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff, but didn't have what it took by the end of the game losing to the Gaither Cowboys in a 24-21 loss in the school's season opener.
The opening kickoff return play set up a couple short runs capped by a sneak by senior quarterback Brandon Hawkins. After a rebound by the Gaither, Alonso started the second half strong taking their opening drive all the way down the field finishing with a short touchdown run by junior running back Ish Witter to tie the game at 14.The Cowboys added a field goal to go up 17-14 but the Ravens would strike again.
On yet another impressive drive, the Ravens ran a fake inside handoff to sophomore running back Zantavious Showers and then pitched it out wide to Witter. Witter only had to make one defender miss and the Ravens were up 21-17. The Cowboys got another touchdown as they chewed up the last two minutes of game clock.

The Ravens were down 24-21 as Hawkins completed a deep sideline pass to junior receiver Derius Davis but the clock ran down to triple zeroes and the Ravens were denied a chance at the game-tying field goal.
