Update: Verizon Working on NFL RedZone Issue

Update 3:42 p.m. Sept. 9: Verizon is reporting that RedZone is now working.

"GREAT NEWS! Your NFL #RedZone on #FiOS should be working," Verizon Support wrote on Twitter. "Just turn your box off then back on. We sincerely apologize for the issues today."

Westchase football fans who are missing their favorite games due to problems with the Verizon FiOS RedZone premium channel can breathe a little easier. The company is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it now.

“We're aware of an issue with NFL RedZone,” Verizon Support tweeted. “We’re sorry for the trouble and we understand it’s urgent. We're working diligently to resolve.”

Westchase Patch Facebook fans began reporting problems with the service this afternoon after editor Nicole Hutcheson posted a question about the service’s availability in the area.

Reader Alexandra Figueroa said her service was down and Shelby Tanner Fox also reported issues.

“Yes, it works in the bedroom, but not the living room,” Tanner Fox wrote. “I switched boxes after trying resents and holding for 58 minutes in their IVR. The other box works out there. I will call them again tomorrow. Pretty ridiculous.”

Other readers reported having no trouble with the service at all.

Based on Verizon Support's Twitter feed, it appears as if problems are spread throughout the county with RedZone availability today.

Verizon Support is also reporting problems for new subscribers of the service.

“WOW! NFL Redzone is in extremely high demand," Verizon Support officials tweeted. "Activations could take up to 90 minutes but requests are processing. Thanks for your patience.”

There is no clear indication at this time as to what is causing the problem or how quickly it will be resolved.
