Community Update



I went for check up on 8/14/2013, I have CIGNA dental insurance, first of all they kept me waiting till find out all about my insurance, second I have noticed that most of the tools and equipment's are too old specially the X-ray machine, no computer no screens or anything they just prints over a film like 30 years ago and you can’t see anything out of the x-ray, the most funny part is the charge for the X-Ray and exam, it was $176 by the way I have done a digital X-ray and real full mouth exam for $69 at another good dental office.

Doctor Rafieian of West Park Dental recommended much work for me crowns for all of teeth and he told me that, I will be in need for root canals if the work not done soon, I said ok, I will start by four of them as he recommended and the cost was $2958. The prices were not matching my plan prices and too high, he also said I must pay deposit before he work, he ask for deposit at least $1000 “down payment” to hire staff so he can do the work on the second day, that was my fault and I have gave them my VISA and charged $1000 for 8/15/2013 appointment, they set it on 8/14/2013 at 5:00PM for 8/15/2013 at 3:00 PM which is 20 hours max time between, they didn’t say anything about extra charges or cancellation charges.

After I went, home I was afraid because I did not see any other patients and why do I have to pay a deposit for medical service not done yet and why do I have to pay the dentist to hire staff!
Therefore, I start reading the reviews about that office after that I knew why. I called them the second day 8/15/2013 between 11:00 Am to 12:00PM to cancel and say I am not coming today, they said fine and I will be refunded after 2 weeks because this is their way!

They charged me $1000 for service never performed! This is my first time paying deposit for dental work and my first time seeing prices like these, all what they care about is to get the credit card to charge it, even if you have insurance, all what they need is your money. Even for quality, he said he is not sure if I may need a root canal or not in the future like may be after 2 weeks, why the doctor does not know that!

So after paying for crown still may need a root canal because the doctor is not sure! It was my fault that I did not read the reviews before I go and gave them my credit card, there was no reason to pay deposit for any service in advance.

Today I just called them since the 14 days already passed and no refund has been done, they told me they will refund me only $800 and hold $200 because they have hired assistance for the doctor on 8/15/2013 just for me and therefore I have to lose $200! Moreover they told me that I have signed statement stated that but I did not.

I have filled a BBB complaint against them so that will be public and know to everyone just in case they do not fool any other Westchase patient by their location or their name and explained the situation to my dental plan to be careful with them.
