The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office plans to be out on the roads in force over Memorial Day Weekend.
Planning on knocking a few back during a Memorial Day weekend barbecue before putting the key in the ignition to head home? It’s time to reconsider that plan. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says it’s ramping up its normal Memorial Day weekend DUI patrols thanks to extra money it received in a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation. That means motorists can count on seeing lots of cruisers on the roads. “The Sheriff's Operation 3D DUI Squad will search for impaired drivers operating on county roadways and near county parks known for active outdoor activities including county parks with boat ramps,” the sheriff’s office warned in a media release. Deputies arrested 21 people on DUI charges countywide during Memorial Day…

If Westchase Voting Members agree in June, homeowners in Castleford and parts of The Bridges will have to purchase uniform black metal mailboxes that have gold flags and numbers. Discussion of the mailbox plan came up during the May Westchase Community Association meeting and now only requires final voting member approval in June to become official. If it does, homeowners in those areas will have to purchase new mailboxes to meet community requirements, according to the World of Westchase. While preliminary discussion went in favor of adopting the new rules, some in attendance raised concerns about the costs of maintaining the mailboxes. Voting member Nancy Sells, for example, said she heard from a resident that Creative Mailboxes was …

From Memorial Day parades to holiday fender benders, this live map shows delays and diversions on Westchase roads right now.
If you're on a mobile device, click here to view the map.
