Two Citrus Park residents were among four arrested when Pasco County Sheriff's deputies conducted a May 14 crackdown on stores that sell synthetic drugs to their customers. Dubbed Operation Consequences, the crackdown came on the heels of warnings from the sheriff's office that it would be going after businesses that make Spice, K2 and other synthetic drugs available to customers. To prove their point, Pasco deputies raided three stores suspected of selling synthetic drugs on Tuesday. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi even went along for the ride at one of the busts. The following stores were searched during Pasco's sweep: Four people were arrested in Tuesday’s raid. They were charged with sale and possession of controlled substance and …

Store clerks, managers and owners were targeted in a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office raid. One of the stores raided was in the Westchase
area.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office showed in no uncertain terms today that ridding stores of brightly colored, youth-oriented packages of synthetic marijuana, commonly known as "K2" or "Spice," is of paramount importance to law enforcement officers. At the sheriff's office on Falkenburg Road, boxes and bags of synthetic marijuana confiscated earlier in the day — from four of the 12 stores targeted for "Operation All Smoked Up" raids — illustrated the severity of the problem. "They call it a synthetic marijuana," said Major Tom Feeney, with the office's special investigations unit. But "it's no different than cocaine, it's no different than heroin, it no different than PCP," he added. "If you ask me, after 33 years [in the business], …

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office teamed federal authorities yesterday to crackdown on production and distribution of designer drugs. Two Benjamin Road warehouses were targeted in the joint agency raid.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has released a video of yesterday’s raid on two warehouses in the Town ‘N Country area and several other locations in the county. The video sheds light on the growing problem posed by synthetic marijuana in Hillsborough and throughout the country. Also known as “Spice” or “K2,” the designer drug uses chemicals that produce effects similar to marijuana. Spice has been linked to a number of health problems and has been known to contribute to increased anxiety, kidney failure and seizures. “(We’re) trying to eradicate this K2 issue from our jurisdiction, our community,” said Hillsborough County Capt. Kyle Cockream in the video. “We don’t know what the long-term effects are. It needs to come to a stop…

Hillsborough government and law enforcement officials want to stem the tide of designer drugs marketed to teens.
A Safety Harbor teen on K2 drowned earlier this year. More than 300 overdoses were reported in Hillsborough County in 2011. And thousands of calls were placed to the Florida Poison Control Centers. These were the details ticked off by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s officials during Wednesday’s Hillsborough County Commission meeting. The goal was to impart the dangers of synthetic drugs. “This (continued production of K2) is going to have a staggering effect on our community resources,” said Maj. Tom Feeney, commander of the special investigations division of the sheriff's office. “Collectively law enforcement, the medical profession, and certainly rehabilitation.” Synthetic drugs known as “K2” or “Spice” are commonly sold at convenience …
