Texting While Driving Could Become Illegal
The Florida Senate approved legislation to make it illegal to text and drive.
The state of Florida recently took a step closer to making texting while driving against the law. On Tuesday, April 16 the Florida Senate passed Senate Bill 52 introduced by Sen. Nancy Detert, R-Venice, which makes texting, emailing or instant messaging while driving a traffic offense. A first violation would result in a non-moving violation. After that, drivers caught texting and driving would be given a moving violation to include fines and points assessed to their licenses. To become law, the measure must next pass the Florida House.
