Tijuana Flats Hosts Cocktails For A Cause Event

The charity event will take place at Westchase's Blend Lounge.

Tijuana Flats is known for serving up good eats to the community, but on Thursday the restaurant will be serving up a big helping of charity. On Thursday, Jan. 17 the Tijuana Flats Just In Queso Foundation will host a happy hour fundraiser at Blend Lounge in Westchase, 9526 W. Linebaugh Ave. "Our organization prides itself on continuous community involvement by lending a helping hand when individuals and organizations are in need," said Dede Franklin, president of Just in Queso Foundation, the restaurant's charitable arm. Westchase Tijuana Flats Awards Employee For Leadership

Employee Nathalie Uloa is one of this year's scholarship winners.

For the past eight years, Tijuana Flats has selected employees who go above and beyond professionally and personally to recieve scholarships toward their education. This year Nathalie Uloa, who works at the Tijuana Flats in Westchase, recieved one of three scholarships for $2,500. Uloa is a business marketing major at the University of South Florida. She has worked at the Westchase location for three years. Nathalie was selected because she is hardworking, dependable and always willing to work as a team to get the job done, according to a statement issued by the company. Teachers Eat Free at Tijuana Flats Thursday

The chain is offering free entrees for teachers on Dec. 27.

Do you think teachers are heroes? The folks behind Tijuana Flats do and they’re willing to prove it. Thursday, Dec. 27, is Teacher Hero Day at Tijuana Flats’ locations. Throughout the day, teachers and professors can enjoy a free entrée on the house. There’s no purchase required for teachers to take advantage of the deal either. “This is one small way we can say ‘thank you’ for the non-stop dedication, commitment, courage, and love teachers give to children and young adults on a daily basis,” the restaurant’s Facebook event notification states. Westchase Tijuana Flats employee receives $3,000 scholarship.

Each year, Tijuana Flats awards Leadership Development Scholarships to deserving employees. This year a Westchase location employee received the honor. Genesis De La Monta of Tampa received a $3,000 scholarship toward college expenses. De La Monta is in her final year at Hillsborough Community College. The Tampa resident volunteers regularly with Tijuana Flats’ Just In Queso Foundation.
