Patch Minute: Soggy Doggy Day, Vino, Farmer's Market and More

Temple Terrace is going to the dogs this weekend when the Family Recreation Complex hosts the city’s first-ever Soggy Doggy Day. The event takes place Saturday, 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and is open to pups from all over Tampa. Admission is $5 per dog. “The sponsors that have contributed to the event are Temple Terrace Animal and Bird Hospital and Lowry Park Zoo,” said Scott Andrews, recreation supervisor for the City of Temple Terrace said. “They have contributed fantastic prizes for our contest winners. Doll Doctor Gives Back to Community

Jan Sutton, a Temple Terrace resident and former Weeki Wachee mermaid, says “anybody in a position to help should step up and do something.”

Temple Terrace resident Jan Sutton believes in helping others—not just during the holidays but year-round. The former Weeki Wachee mermaid, now 75, spends much of her spare time running a Doll Hospital and Teddy Bear Adoption Center from her home to benefit Joshua House, an 11-acre safe haven in Lutz for abused and neglected children ages 6-17. “Those kids need it,” she said. “They’ve been thrown away by their parents.” Let Patch save you time.
