New Church Opens In Westchase

Westtown Church is a new addition to the Westchase neighborhood.

First they met at Mary Bryant Elementary. Then it was Farnell Middle. But as of June 23, Westtown Church no longer has to call anywhere else home.

The church completed construction and opened the doors to a new sanctuary at 13521 Race Track Road in Westchase.

The church is led by Pastor Frank Taylor, who earned his Masters in Divinity and Masters in Counseling Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. Taylor was an organizing pastor of Westtown Church in September of 2005, according to the church's website.

The church began meeting at Mary Bryant Elementary in 2006 an the moved to Farnell Middle, according to Nicki Ransom, the church's ministiry andminsirator.

The church had about 450 people in attendance at a recent Sunday service, Ransom said. The church has two Sunday worship services: 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

In addition to traditional Sunday service, they offer youth groups, a book club and "Life Groups," which consist of groups of 5-10 people who meet regularly to do outreach in the community. Westtown sermons can also be heard online.

The church's goal is to connect and service the Westchase area and beyond.

"We're excited to be one of the first church buildings in our zip code," Ransom said in an e-mail. "We want to be here for the community."
